Hot Tub & Pool Service in South Salt Lake, Utah

Hot tub and pool service in South Salt Lake, Utah. Utility lines cut across the city, so the first question is which water you have. Based next door. Book now.

South Salt Lake is seven square miles wedged between Salt Lake City, Millcreek, Murray, and the freeways, and the lines on the map do not agree with each other. The city boundary runs one way. The water utility boundary runs another. A South Salt Lake address can be on Salt Lake City Public Utilities water or on a different supplier, and the split does not follow anything you can see from the street. Two houses on the same block can be on different water.

For a hot tub owner that is the first thing to sort out, because the two supplies do not behave the same in a tub. So this page starts with a question instead of a sales pitch.

Which water are you on?

Look at your water bill. If it comes from Salt Lake City Public Utilities, keep reading this section. If it comes from anyone else, skip to the next one.

On Salt Lake City water. Your fill water comes from the same system as the rest of the city: canyon treatment plants that deliver water on the softer side in spring, around 8 to 12 grains per gallon depending on the plant, and deep wells that come online in summer and run up to more than 33 grains. The swing from the softest spring water to the hardest summer well water is roughly fourfold. Fill water from all of the city’s plants arrives with alkalinity above the 80 to 120 spa target and pH above the 7.2 to 7.8 range, so it needs adjusting from the hose. The full season-by-season version is on the Salt Lake City page, and everything there applies to a South Salt Lake tub on city water.

On another supplier. We do not have published figures for the other water serving South Salt Lake, and we are not going to guess at them. What we do instead is test. Every routine visit measures calcium hardness, alkalinity, pH, sanitizer, and stabilizer, and after a couple of visits on your tub we will know what your street’s water does and how often it should be changed.

Either way, tell us which utility you are on when you book. It changes what we expect to find when we open the cover.

Why the boundary matters for a tub

It would be easier to say “South Salt Lake water is X” and move on. We will not, because a number that is right for one side of a street and wrong for the other is worse than no number.

What the boundary changes in practice:

  • Starting calcium hardness. City canyon water arrives below the spa target and may need calcium added. Summer well water may arrive above it. Another supplier could be anywhere. The test strip settles it.
  • Drain interval. Water that starts with more dissolved mineral reaches the point where balancing stops working sooner. A drain, clean, and refill every three to four months is the target for most tubs, and a fill from harder water leans toward three.
  • What your water actually consumes. A tub on high-alkalinity fill water uses reducer. A tub on soft fill water uses calcium. Same visit price either way, because routine visits include the chemicals.

The housing

South Salt Lake has three kinds of neighborhoods and the tubs are in two of them.

The older residential streets east of State Street, in the Granite and Meadowbrook areas and around the historic Scott School, are small mid-century houses on modest lots. Tubs here sit on back patios, often close to the house, with short hose runs and easy drainage. These are quick, straightforward visits.

The new townhome and apartment developments around Central Pointe, along West Temple, and up and down the 2100 South and 3300 South corridors are where the neighborhood is growing. Private tubs on townhome patios are common, and they come with townhome logistics: shared walls, assigned parking, a gate code, and sometimes an HOA rule about where water can drain. Tell us about those when you book.

The industrial blocks west of the tracks do not have many hot tubs.

South Salt Lake questions

Do you offer weekly hot tub maintenance in South Salt Lake?

Yes. South Salt Lake shares a border with our base in Millcreek, and it is on the Thursday and Friday routes. Routine hot tub visits are $75, pool and swim spa visits $110, chemicals included in both. Weekly or every other week, booked online.

Am I on Salt Lake City water if I live in South Salt Lake?

Maybe. Salt Lake City Public Utilities serves portions of South Salt Lake, but not all of it, and the boundary does not follow the city line. The name on your water bill is the answer. If it says Salt Lake City, the numbers on our Salt Lake City page apply to your tub.

Do you service hot tubs at apartments and townhome complexes?

For a private tub at a townhome or a rental unit, yes, the same as any house. For a shared tub or pool owned by a complex or an HOA, contact us with the details. Our routine visit is priced for residential equipment, and a shared pool is a different conversation.

How is South Salt Lake different from Salt Lake City for hot tub service?

Mostly in the housing. South Salt Lake has smaller, older houses on the east side, a lot of new townhomes and apartments in the middle, and industrial blocks on the west. Tubs are concentrated in the older residential streets east of State Street and in the new townhome developments. The water can be the same as Salt Lake City's or not, depending on the street.
